dance of the tumbleweeds

forked tongues lash out
across bristling sky
dark desert bluster
acts out pent-up ire
dance of the tumbleweeds
ignites fast as fire

brown clouds drift like snow
headlights alight dusty glow
cars swerve, big rigs sway
whole highway goes cray cray
flocks of tumbleweeds
descend like tribble seeds

toss about by swirling devils
bush and limb thrown disheveled
rock and pebble jig and roll
wild winds take their toll
ten scarce droplets tease of rain
this encore night, this dry refrain
