becoming ocean

i hear the seacall out to me

i feel the tug

of ocean tides
like my ancestors

who make that broad ford

bounded across oceans

of opportunity
i hear the sea

call out to me

i feel the tug

of ocean tides
i am a fish

upon the land

i make a wish

for wave and water

my eyes have scanned
yet here i stand

in dunes of sand

i am buried

to this desert

i am married
still i hear the sirens call

i must heed the tides

rise and fall
the deep heartfelt burning

of the oceans’

ebb and swell

its desperate yearning

like screaming seagulls

i cannot quell
i hear the sea

call out to me

i feel the tug

of ocean tides
i summon the sirens

beckon in their silence

none take up my plea

i am like

a lone green pea

steeped like tea

in destiny’s mug

my soul abides
within your heart

you can start

to let

your passion burn

when you learn

you are the key

a sea of locks are we

from life’s full flavor chug

where your heart resides
i hear the sea

call out to me

i feel the tug

of ocean tides
at first i sip

then with a slip

of hand and mug

i start to chug
steeped in this notion

that with devotion

once set in motion

we become the ocean
