tendrils of time

contrails in time
diffuse from the line
ripples i’d fought
lead where i’d sought

tendrils of time
pull me out of rhyme
threads of thought
lead not where they ought

struggle to resist
bound at neck, waist, and wrist
tangled tendrils of time
entwine and bind

but then i recall
in this time before the fall
that perspective can twist
when we cease to insist

when we choose to see
what we can truly be
let possibilities unfold
the precious origami behold

take heed of the chime
wake up to newly see
we are these tendrils of time
then we truly are free
