beyond the veil

in awe
i stare
at the page

in awe
i stare
at the greatest page of all

in awe
i stare
at the greatest page of all
waiting to be written

upon the page
a soft-black haze
hides those subtle
marks of beauty

upon the page
the single boldest mark
a full stop
an end, a period

a release
an offer
a beckoning welcome
to begin anew

the period marks
not the end
but a breath
in the continuum

we yearn to learn
what is written there
beyond the veil
beyond the punctuation

what might we write
add to what’s there
where e’er we sail
continue elucidation

in awe
i stare
into the blackened sky
obscured by soft night clouds

in awe
i stare
at the greatest page of all
waiting to be written

the moon
alight, near full
white jot upon the blackness
beckoning to begin again

we yearn to return
beyond our skin
reach out into the world
beyond the breath-filled veil

our story
that told this far
is but a single sentence
spun upon this pale blue dot

but out there
beyond the veil
beyond our lonesome dot
awaits the greatest page of all

upon the page of the sky
hanging, urging upon high
as essential as our daily bread
gazillions of tales to be read

our moon the prompting period
begging us to continue
the story we have started
the story we’re all part of

upon the page of wanton sky
stories both short and long
by the same author
who wrote our own

in awe
i stare
illiterate
yet hear the cries

in darkened night
by veiled moonlight
i hear the cries and fragrant songs
sung by the whole choir of stars
