The following is a short song or poem, to be sung by to the tune of the theme song from the television show Mister Ed, which was about a horse. This poem is about network connectivity, or lack thereof. It dates back to the wonderful years when USENET and the public Internets were being integrated before the era of protocols such as http had come to be. It is attributed to Mike O’Brien.

“A host is a host from coast to coast
and no one will talk to a host that’s close
Unless the host (that isn’t close)
is busy, hung or dead.” – Mike O’Brien
