tumbleweed

oh tumbleweed, oh tumbleweed
stealth rambler of the desert
you tumble on
both night and day
to all your haunts
respects you pay
oh tumbleweed, oh tumbleweed
oh how i’ll tumble for you

oh tumbleweed, oh tumbleweed
shrub skeletony nomad
you ask me to
come out and play
i shoo you off
but here you stay
oh tumbleweed, oh tumbleweed
so now i tremble from you

oh tumbleweed, oh tumbleweed
you scraggly shade of sages
your rolling ways
make me cray cray
your twigs i shred
your stems i splay
oh tumbleweed, oh tumbleweed
into the soil i’ll till you

(sung to the tune of O, Tannenbaum; apologies to Ernst Anschütz)
