my own darkness

forgive me while i
stare at your darkness
for even in shadow
you are magnificent

were it not for my rude
and gluttonous ways
stealing your light
you would be most radiant

borrow in your jealous ire
la sangre of your neighbor
off your northern shore
when he comes his closest

as i stole your light
you steal this damped hue
cast your color antiblue
claim your subtler radiance

and through it all
i cannot help myself
but to stare and gaze upon you
in my own darkness
