conjuring our worlds

here we are
conjuring our worlds again
forming fables
of the thinnest of air

near and far
all our hopes and ambitions
staged on tables
with the greatest of flair

raise the bar
drafting resolutions
casting great shadows
in the caves of nowhere

pulling cards
engraving inclinations
within facets
in the dark of your hair

plucking stars
like lint from a tree of suns
glowing embers
awaiting the next flare

in a jar
with treacle mulled of ginger root
like fireflies
blinded by their own glare

time to spare
in a den where tigers pant
dripping nectar
on the dawn of despair

embers char
when they are held too long
skipped like stones
they ignite silent prayer

at the fair
smorgasbord of possibilities
writing riddles
your wild dreams to ensnare

at this year
polymorphed and transmogrified
on the brink
transformed and transfixed i stare

here we are
conjuring our worlds again
forming fables
of the thinnest of air
