culvert crawlers

sliver of light
shines through scant crack
in celestial ceiling

out of endless night
drain dwellers climb the stack
ceiling is peeling

creepy culvert crawlers
emerge from realm subterranean
out of sewers stealing

standing there doer of the sewer
makes my head spin body swoon
from pugnant pungent odor reeling

indelible in memory
draining down q and p
silent synaptic sealing

follow down culvert crawler
straddle along nether river
voices echo something slithers

sloping down on go we
to a cave or to the sea
where goest we oh i plea

follow down culvert crawler
straddle along nether river
voices echo something slithers

endless wending down the way
to get out or here we stay
send some light oh i pray

alight this fuse to bring some light
its yellow glow illumes new plight
toss the firework filled with fright

echoes never had existed
such as this which now persisted
onward go be insisted

follow down culvert crawler
straddle along nether river
voices echo something slithers

another sparkler burns along
as cylinder fills with song
an organ pipe a mile long

the deafening dash
then blinding flash
the light ahead appears at last

dear darling disc
grows ever larger
to the end another risk

yet at the halo opens
below the tube gently slopens
need not these frayed rope ends

sliding down the face
to crayfish central
soon begin another race

now up and in
back into the tube
easy path or Goldberg Rube

follow up this culvert crawler
straddle along nether river
voices echo fear now withers

sliver of light
shines through scant crack
in celestial ceiling

up into the new world emerge
another journey on the verge
tomorrow new adventures urge
