churches and gardens

everywhere i travel
is churches and gardens
some have steeples
some dragons and damsels

everywhere i travel
into a ball i ravel
compendia of memoranda
juggling these yarn balls
entangled in estrandia

everywhere i travel
is temples and squirrels
flaming coconuts
the tide that curls

whether on wings or feet
or wings of virtuality
windmills, steeples, grain elevators
codecs, switches, routers

churches and gardens
carried in my heart
precious sweet remembrance
wish would never part

from distilling Edmonton
down to dino Drumheller
from cascading Calgary
to lovely snowy Lake Louise

from hopping Hamburg
to hilly Heidelberg
from Bad Harzberg und Wernigerode
to die falknerei en Göttingen

from soulful songs of San Rafael
strumming silicates of San Jose
from serene sandy Santa Cruz
to garlicky green Gilroy

from sacred shells of Sanibel
to shuttle launch at Canaveral
from once piney Biscayne
to great river glades

everywhere i travel
is churches and gardens
from Grand Colorado Canyon
to the bendy gila’s hula

when the midday woodpecker
hammers the wall outside my window
when the coyote crosses
at midnight’s red light

churches and gardens
carried in my heart
emotion’s coasters and wagons
neque ego non sum descartes
