larcenous lightnings

strobing sky sings
larcenous lightnings
zaps a zillion watts
steals my thoughts

desperate hopes for rain
dashing flashing drives insane
hopes of droplets doesn’t wane
wanton thirst i can’t explain

just go swallow raindrops i heard
mouths toward the sky like baby birds
silent rapping rhythm sounds absurd
hollow songs of electric songbirds

yet as night wanes and morning waxes
i dream of rain song played on saxes
through hair and skin into my brain
precious liquid plays its slow refrain
